Adoption

Adoption Information

Animals are our number one priority. They are the heart and soul of our community, and we strive to build strong, positive relationships with each and every one of them.

Animals who have made bonds with others, or have ongoing special needs, shall in their best interests, remain with us. Animals are generally adopted in pairs or family groups to make their transition to their new home as stress free as possible. We cannot separate best friends.

Animals are health checked, treated for parasites and in the best of health they can be prior to placement. Due to unknown backgrounds, we may not be able to provide full histories of the animals.

Our approach is centered on pillars that define our sanctuary’s core values:

Our Core Values

Pillars Of The Community

We take pride in being an integral part of our community, working together to improve the lives of farm animals and promote responsible pet ownership. By providing a compassionate space for animals to thrive, we foster a sense of unity and compassion within our community

Behaviour & Relationships

We believe that every animal deserves to be treated with respect and kindness. Through positive reinforcement and nurturing, we ensure that our animals develop strong bonds with humans and other animals alike, making them wonderful companions for loving homes.

Positivity &
Hope

Our adoption process is filled with positivity and hope. We celebrate the joy of finding forever homes for our animals and focus on the incredible transformations that adoption brings into both the animals’ lives and the lives of their new families.

Compromise &
Slow Change

We understand that each animal is unique, and some may have specific needs or challenges. Our dedicated team works with patience and understanding, willing to make compromises and facilitate slow changes to help our animals adjust comfortably to their new homes.

When adopting, you need to consider the animals life cycle and the commitment this will require from you. Here are some estimates for our animals:

  • Chicken 7-10 years (note rescued laying hens and birds bred for flesh have greatly reduced life spans due to unnatural breeding and require additional care throughout their lifetime)
  • Ducks and Geese: 10 plus years
  • Sheep: 8-15 years (will greatly depend on the start in life they have had)
  • Goats: 10 -15 years
  • Pigs: 8- 12 years (factory farmed or commercially bred pigs have shortened lifespans due to terrible conditions they have been subjected to, and unnatural breeding)
  • Cows: 15 -20 years
